4.1 REALTOR® Member Education
4.1.1 Boards/Associations must either obligate new REALTOR® members to complete an orientation
course provided by CREA or the Board/Association must provide at least three hours of mandatory education to new REALTOR® members
covering, at a minimum:
4.1.1.1: The structure of Organized Real Estate and the different responsibilities of CREA, Provincial/Territorial Associations, and Boards/Associations;
4.1.1.2: The tools offered by CREA that could benefit members, such as WEBForms®, REALTOR Link®, and the DDF®;
4.1.1.3: The REALTOR® Code and their responsibilities under the REALTOR® Code and ethical obligations in general;
4.1.1.4: The proper use of CREA’s Trademarks;
4.1.1.5: Board/Association bylaws, rules, and policies;
4.1.1.6: Competition Law; and
4.1.1.7: Any other legislation of which REALTOR® members should be aware.
4.1.2: If a Board/Association is providing the new REALTOR® member education:
4.1.2.1: The three hours of REALTOR® member education do not need to be completed at the same time;
4.1.2.2: The REALTOR® member education may be offered in person or online;
4.1.2.3: Boards/Associations may use CREA materials or non-CREA materials to provide the REALTOR® member education; and
4.1.2.4: Boards/Associations must require REALTOR® members to complete the education within 90 days of joining the Board/Association.
The CREA course is free and available to all Members. This course covers the information required for CREA’s New Member Education in compliance with CREA’s Core Standards Policy. Member course completions are tracked in CREA's Learning Hub.
