I have been a teacher in Queensbury since 2007. I taught 5th grade for two years at the WHBI, and then switched roles and became an Educational Technologist for the district. In that position I worked in all of the schools here in Queensbury and helped teachers and students use more technology in their lessons. A few years ago I was at QHS helping to implement a technology grant that has brought Chromebooks and other tech resources to all of the classrooms there. I have been a science teacher for the last 3 years, but am looking forward to changing gears a bit and teaching social studies this year. I look forward to the coming year with the newest group of 6th graders.
Before coming to Queensbury, I worked in Chesterfield, VA and taught 5th grade for three years, 4th grade for two years and was an Educational Technologist there for 3 years as well. It was a lot of fun in the south, but Upstate NY has always been my home and I was grateful for the chance to return.
My favorite subjects in school have always been science, social studies, and reading. I have always loved exploring and learning about our world through science, and I also have always loved to explore the characters and worlds you can find in a good book. I love to read about science and new discoveries, but my favorite things to read are fiction stories about all sort of things.
I have 5 kids at home, two boys that are my own and three that are my wife's, but we are one big happy family! It is a lot like the Brady Bunch... minus the girls, the maid, and permed hair. (For students unsure of what the Brady Bunch is... click here.)
I grew up in Lake Pleasant, NY... which is a town in the Adirondacks that is not too far from here. I went to college in Canton, NY and then on to Potsdam. I originally thought I would become a policeman or a psychologist, but I worked as a substitute teacher for a while and realized I wanted to become a teacher, so I went back to school, and here I am!
For fun I like to ride my mountain bike at Gurney Lane, play golf, read books, go camping, and spend time with my family.
