Here are some pictures for regarding our school garden.
We waited for the harvest very eagerly after planting our crops. We saw an ecosystem slowly developing in our vegetable garden with bees, butterflies and birds coming to our garden in search of food. We feel proud that we are feeding them too...
Our harvest was regularly supplied to the school cafeteria for lunch. The project was named 'Garden to Table'. The nutritional importance of these vegetables were exhibited in the cafeteria to encourage healthy eating. Our nutritional awareness program was a huge success in the 2019-20 academic year.
Have you experienced the joy of pulling out a fresh carrot from your garden and munching on it ?
We learned about the importance of adopting sustainability and reducing carbon footprint in our lives through our Environment day celebrations. We all wore green sustainable clothes to mark the Qatar Environment Day celebrations.
The teachers are tending to the garden.
This was our garden before, when few were growing and we were planting the seeds, but not anymore. It is now filled so much with plants! We could see an ecosystem slowly developing with the plants as they grew. Now the field is filled with lots of plants and occasional bees.
Every harvest was a celebration of our hardwork.
The big ripe turnips were a feast for the eyes too.
The tomatoes, chilies and carrots were so fresh and we could tell the difference in taste from the store-brought ones.

Cucumber, tomatoes and watermelon in the field.
The harvested produce is washed and packed in biodegradable bags and sold in our communities for a nominal prize. All the proceeds from the harvest goes to 'Educate A Child Program', a charity program that helps educate underprivileged children around the globe.
