We appreciate all parents sending in their student measurements and now all costumes for Showcase 2025 have been ordered and are starting to arrive. Students will be fitted in their costumes during classes to ensure they are the correct size and sent home with the student (except for Kindergarten to Year 2). Please see the relevant Fees and Payment section in your daughters year group information for full details regarding charges.
NOTE: No jewellery is to be worn with costumes. Appropriate undergarments are to be worn. Any student who has undergarments that can be seen or are an inappropriate colour will not be permitted onstage. This includes during all dress and technical rehearsals and performances.
To ensure that there are no discrepancies in colour and style, students who require tights will be advised closer to the Showcase date.
Students are to have the correct Dance shoes for each class. Please refer to their original class information sheet which details the correct Dance shoes.
Students that require additional items for their costume including tights will be communicated later this term. Please refer to Year group sections for specific details.
No refunds will be made if a parent or guardian withdraws their daughter from the Dance class after costumes have been ordered and prior to Showcase.
Makeup allows the students to be seen under the professional lights onstage. All students are required to wear the following makeup for the Showcase:
Foundation
Red Lipstick
Blush
Neutral eye shadow
Eyeliner (not necessary for Kindergarten to Year 2)
Mascara
Uniform hairstyles are required for each Dance style. We will have assistance backstage to change Ballet students' hair styles for their performance items.
A professional photographer will capture the 2025 Dance Showcase and all parents will be supplied with their daughters class photo library.
All Showcases are filmed. We will be providing all families with a digital link to the Showcase videos via the MyPymble app.
Students will receive a Showcase dancer T-Shirt as part of their Showcase package. These T-Shirts are a memento of the Showcase. Please refer to individual sections for more details.
Parents are welcome to purchase a single flower to give to their daughter after one of the Dance Showcase Performances.
A single Gerbera is only available for pre-order, no flowers will be available to purchase on the day. Flowers can be collected prior to the show that are ordered for.
To order click on the link below by Monday 3 November.
Students are expected to have regular attendance at their weekly Dance classes all year. This is incredibly important in Terms 3 and 4, in the lead up to the Showcase. Students who have multiple unexplained absences or have missed more than 20% of classes due to illness, appointments or holidays, may not be able to perform in the Showcase. Please ensure you enter all absences via the Activity Absence section in the app prior to the commencement of any Dance class to ensure the teacher can mark your daughter correctly on the roll. This will also prevent you receiving a follow up email from the Dance office regarding an unexplained absence later.
All students need to be available for the dates applicable to them. All dates can be viewed in individual sections of this website. All students are expected to put the Dress Rehearsal and Showcase Dates as their priority. Please plan arrangements with any other commitments in advance.
All Year 7 to 12 classes (except RAD Ballet) conclude in Week 4, Term 4, unless specific classes are notified via the MyPymble app. RAD Ballet and all Junior classes will continue after the Showcase, in the lead up to their Examinations and Class Awards.
No Classes are being held in Week 5, Showcase Week. Rehearsals replace classes and a specific schedule will be devised to accommodate all rehearsals needed. Please refer to the information in each section for specific details.
The Showcase is not a one-day activity. Gather all costumes, accessories, shoes, and makeup well in advance so that you know if anything is missing or isn't right. Make a checklist of your child's routines, listing the costume, tights, shoes, and any accessories, and refer to it to ensure you have all your supplies before going to the theatre. Pack extra hair gel, hair nets, bobby pins, hair ties and hairspray.
TOP TIPS: Other handy extras
Baby wipes - to fix makeup mistakes and wash hands
Safety pins - for emergency costume repairs
Band aids - the invisible kind
Please do not send your child to the dress rehearsals or Showcase performances with any snacks or drinks that could stain their costume/s. Crackers, energy bars, apples and carrot sticks are good choices. Water is the best drink, please do not send juice boxes or other sticky drinks.
DO NOT pack anything that may contain traces of nuts.
Energy drinks are strictly NOT permitted.
Students participating in shows on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 November will be provided with a snack box during a supervised break between shows. If your daughter has any dietary requirements, please complete the form below. If your daughter does not have any dietary requirements, please do not complete this form.
Participation in the dress and technical rehearsals is mandatory. These rehearsals allow the students to become familiar with the theatre surroundings and feel comfortable with their performance, costume/s, and being onstage. Lighting, music cues, set changes, and all other logistics for an organised and professional performance are rehearsed. A roll will be marked.
Kindergarten to Year 2 will only be required for a Stage Rehearsal in Week 4.
Parents are NOT permitted to watch any of these rehearsals.
Often parents question the importance of the dress rehearsal for their child. The key to a successful performance for your child is the dress rehearsal. Reasons why the dress rehearsal is vital are:
The stage is much larger than the dance spaces and can be intimidating to the children.
The stage lights can be disorienting to young children.
Modifications to the choreography can be made at a dress rehearsal. A student who misses the rehearsal will not have the chance to practice any of the changes onstage.
Students often rely on the studio mirrors to help them with spacing and formations. Having the chance to dance without the security of mirrors before the performance is very important for their confidence and body awareness.
Students have the chance to practice their stage entrances and exits using the wings and get used to being in such a large space.
To ensure safety of the students, practice in this space is essential. A safety briefing will be conducted ensureing students are aware and updated on procedures. Lights and other heavy-duty equipment will be stationed around the entrances and exits of the stage. To ensure no harm comes to anyone, practice with these is vital.
Confidence is critical to a successful performance. The dress rehearsal offers your child the chance to feel ready for the show.
The other main reason why the dress rehearsal is important relates to one of the main objectives of our program. That is to teach the spirit of teamwork and commitment to fellow dancers. When children miss the rehearsal, the result can be confusion for the remaining students (an absence affects spacing and timing) and fairness of commitment.
Students must respect other students' space and property in the dressing rooms. The students will spend more time in the dressing rooms than onstage or in the auditorium, so please do your best to keep them organised and clean.
Please note: dressing room allocations will be communicated prior to the Showcase Week.
Enthusiastic applause is encouraged at the Dance Showcase. Audience members should not bring or use handheld electronic games or other devices with sounds and/or lights that could be a distraction for other audience members and performers.
Since we present a professional performance, we ask that everyone remain seated during the entire performance and yelling out at performers is not permitted. If you need to leave the theatre during the show, you will only be allowed back into the theatre between dance items. This rule is strictly enforced. Please do not create a disturbance with the theatre ushers regarding this policy.
The use of video or flash photography is strictly prohibited during all Showcase performance.
