To challenge and enhance the reading program for our GATE students, I offer additional opportunities, like the Brookhaven Bear University.
All the activities are optional and will not be used for their reading grade.

They are extending their learning through literature and will need to complete their job sheets instead. Each team has chosen a novel to read and discuss based on their job. The team determines the number of chapters or pages to be read each week. AR tests can be taken on these books and the AR section of their reading contract can be filled out from these novels as well.
Lack of effort will return them to the spelling activities.
Research a piece of artwork mentioned in the story
Include *the artist *the date of creation *history and genre of the piece
*any symbolism or meaning behind the piece
*location in the museum *any other information guests may find interesting
Create a diorama or a Google slide presentation about the artwork and other artworks by the same artist for the week of _______________
Be prepared to present to the class the week of ______________
