Volunteer Thank You

We welcome all Mustang ohana volunteers to come to a special breakfast on Tuesday at 7:45 so that we can celebrate you. We would not be able to have the exciting programs and events we do without the tireless work of our volunteers and the students and staff thank you all so very much!

Carnival Fun

Speaking of events we couldn't do without our awesome volunteers, we celebrated our annual Mabel Paine Carnival last week and students had a fantastic time! Thanks to the phenomenal organizers who put the event together and to all of our booth volunteers, including staff members and past students!

Reaching Our Goals

We have met ALL of our school goals and are so proud of the teachers, staff, and students for having a growth mindset and meeting these high expectations!

Goal 1 - ELA MET!

During the 2021-22 school year, increase the overall percentage of students who are at or above grade level on the first Reading i-Ready diagnostic assessment by 25%, as measured by the third i-Ready diagnostic assessment.

Goal 2 - Math MET!

During the 2021-22 school year, increase the overall percentage of students who are at or above grade level on the first Math i-Ready diagnostic assessment by 30%, as measured by the third i-Ready diagnostic assessment.

Goal 3 - English Learners MET!

During the 2021-22 school year, increase the overall percentage of English learners who are at or above grade level on the first Reading i-Ready diagnostic assessment by 20%, as measured by the third i-Ready diagnostic assessment.

Congratulations to our Mustang musicians who performed this week for a crowd in two concerts and thank you to our music teachers, Mr. Evans, Ms. Edmonson, and Ms. Dominguez!

Minimum Day

Friday, June 10 is a minimum day. School ends at 12:45 and all TK students are early bears. PS students remain on regular schedule. Please see the schedule below or link to our bell schedule under Important Events.

Eva Mellegren from Mr. Roth's class won the Murphy Mustang reading pillow in our Mustang Student Store raffle! Congratulations, Eva!

School Safety

We have communicated with our Maintenance and Facilities office about gates being left open by grounds or construction crews. They understand our concern for student safety and have asked all crews to shut gates behind them after entering campus. If you see a gate left open, feel free to email mcarmona@pylusd.org or call our front office. Thank you!

Second graders went to Tanaka Farms last week and picked their own strawberries and kale!

Fourth graders got to experience a variety of animals up close at their special assembly with the OCDE Traveling Scientists last week!

PTA Corner

Carnival pre-sale going on now through next Friday, May 27^th! Many of our teachers will be working the booths to kick off the carnival!

The silent auction that would have taken place at Quartermania will now be held at carnival! In addition, there will be an opportunity to win some of the prizes from Quartermania.

We are also in need of volunteers to work the booth at the carnival. Each classroom has been assigned two booths to work. Parents, grandparents, aunt, uncles and high school students are welcome to volunteer. Middle school students are also welcome to volunteer as long as their parents are also in attendance. You are welcome to sign up for as many slots as you would like.

The Video Man® Productions has created a web page streaming the show, and also where you can purchase a DVD / Blu-ray disc set and Flash drive of the show.

If you have already purchased the disc sets, you can also purchase a file of the entire show on a flash drive, at a discount. All purchases made will be mailed directly to your address.

Free 24/7 Tutoring

Did you know that 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students have access to tutors 7 days per week? Paper Learning provides support in math, science, social science, English/language arts, and writing, which includes their Essay Review component. Students have the opportunity to upload their essays and receive feedback within 24 hours.

Our Mabel Paine School Goals for 2021-22

Every year, we determine school goals with our School Site Council and ELAC advisory groups that align with our district's goals to measure our students' progress throughout the year. Here are our goals this year:
