Below is a list of curriculum with digital resources, online activity ideas, and offline activity ideas you can use to encourage your students to learn from home. Access the Special Services website here.

  • CA Academy of Sciences: Lesson plans, videos, info graphics, teaching strategies. Can filter by category, content, SEPs, and also by language.

  • FOSS: (Full Option Science System) is a research-based science curriculum for grades K-8 developed at the Lawrence Hall of Science, University of California, Berkeley. Registration information, teacher guides and resources including student video tutorial for accessing FOSS.

  • NewsELA Science: Standards-based integration of science and literacy, including special events.

  • NSTA: Free 30 day membership to access digital resources and tools.

  • NSTA eBooks: Interactive eBooks+ are both engaging and inspiring with animations, simulations, videos, and review questions.

  • Discovery Education: Digital Resources including lessons, videos, activities

  • Amplify Science: Access to the digital lessons, apps, and student eBooks (grades K–5) and simulations (grades 3–5) for home use. This access will enable guardians to read to their students and/or set their students up for independent exploration.

  • How to Assign Amplify Science: Amplify Science now has a "Assign in Google" feature. You can now see the green GC button in the Amplify Digital Platform. This new feature is available for all student-facing work and simplifies navigation for your classes by providing a direct link to any Amplify activity within Google Classroom. Use the link to learn how to use this feature.

Planning Templates

  • Weekly Planning Templates: Outlines for assigning work by week. Includes space for LA, Math, Science/ Social Studies, Enrichment and PE. Has live links to some reading resources and Go Noodle.

Language Arts

  • Lexia (Students will need to login with Google using "studentid@pvusd.net" and birthdate password). Then click on the Lexia Core 5 button.

  • Unit guides by grade: there are informational and narrative passages in English and Spanish in the Reading Resources folders. There are reading and writing lessons for text dependent questioning and writing from sources.

  • Lit2Go: Free online collection of stories, poems, and passages in Mp3 (audiobook) format. Books and passages are available to download as a PDF.

  • The Spanish Experiment: Well-known children's stories translated into Spanish and spoken by a native Spanish speaker. You can turn the closed/ captioning on in English to work as subtitles or in Spanish to serve as a read aloud.

  • Scholastic Learn at Home: Paired fiction and non-fiction texts from Book Flix and added daily videos and activities to go along. Choose to present in a different order according to their theme.

  • PreK-K Learning Packets

  • Epic! Books: This online library houses fiction and nonfiction trade books in English and Spanish for TK-6th grade lexile levels. Epic is giving teachers the ability to send students a subscription to their library until June 30th-- the teacher needs to sign up for a free account and then email the students' families an invite.

ELD

  • Systematic ELD- non adopting sites only: Google Drive has resources and tools aligned to systematic ELD. You can use these resources when creating plans for ELD. There are visuals for specific topics that you can use.

Offline activity ideas:

Math

  • Teach someone how to do something you learned at school

  • Make a list of the shapes you see (ie desk is a rectangle, stop sign is an octagon)

  • Measure the ingredients when cooking

  • Help a family member add up the cost of items at the grocery store

  • Be in charge of handling the money when paying at the store

Language Arts

  • Read with a friend of family member for 15 minutes a day

  • Create a story/poem

  • Keep a home journal

  • Write out the instructions on how to do something

  • Translate something

  • Retell a story to a friend or family member

Other

  • Build a model, or build something new out of Legos or other building materials

  • Work on an art project

  • Help out around the house

  • Play a board or card game

  • Cook with a friend or family member

  • Exercise!

  • Teach someone a dance step or a sports skill

  • Pet care (wash, groom, feed, walk)

Math:

  • Inside Mathematics: Professional resources including problems of the month and performance tasks.

  • BitPaper: Digital Whiteboard: BitPaper is a digital whiteboard that enables users to collaborate, explain, draw, share online.

  • Robert Kaplinsky: A growing list of free real world problem-based lessons for kinder through high school. Each problem includes links to a CCSS aligned mini-lesson.

  • Which One Doesn't Belong?: A website dedicated to providing thought-provoking puzzles for math teachers and students alike. There are no answers provided as there are many different, correct ways of choosing which one doesn't belong.

  • Math Visuals: Short visual representations with a question to spark conversation around mathematics.

  • You Cubed Tasks: Youcubed’s Math Tasks are open, visual and creative with a mission to inspire all learners. Each task includes lesson plans that integrate brain science, mindset and other important messages to learners.

  • Teaching Channel: Teaching Channel is a thriving online community where teachers can watch, share, and learn diverse techniques to help every student grow.

  • DigitalManipulatives: Access a bank of digital manipulatives for students to utilize when solving math problems from home.

  • Wonderopolis: Wonderopolish poses intriguing questions—the Wonder of the Day—and explore it in a variety of ways. Teachers can use the daily Wonder to jumpstart their students' critical thinking, for content that relates to specific themes and student interests.
