Every student needs to make up a missed day (no matter what the reason is for missing class). The students are responsible to contact the teacher by email when they are going to be absent to inform him about the absence. This way the teacher can inform the students of the make up work.
Parents notes only excuse the absence but not the work missed. The students are responsible to make up all the work missed. Points are only earned for work completed.
Students can make up missed PE Review Tests, PE Notebook checks during tutorial.
Make up work for students that are absent or are unable to participate and DO NOT have a doctors note:
Note: Students might have a parents note that excuses the absences not the missed work.
Students are responsible to make up the notebook and any other written work missed.
Students must complete a workout to make up the participation part of the grade.
*During tutorial:
Must request a pass from their PE teacher
Must be dressed for PE with the appropriate clothing
Make up work for students that are absent or unable to participate and have a doctors note:
This work will only make up for the participation part of the grade. The student is responsible for the notebook, the PE project and the written test.
The student will have to read one article about "physical activity and health" of their choice, per day missed. The student will have to write 5 lines summary and 5 lines personal opinion about each article.
Please send an email to carlos_bover@pvusd.net with the following information, please follow this format:
Subject line: Name, last name, period and day that you are making up
Body of the email:
Tittle of the article: (Example) Get healthy and fit like a champion
Link to the article: (Example) http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/guide/get-healthy-fit-like-champion
5 lines Summary
(Example) This article mostly relayed advice from Olympic athletes and coaches about returning to serious physical training during the summer. They pointed out that, no matter a person’s fitness level before a period of less training, they will definitely have lost some amount of endurance when they do return to consistent training. The article quotes both the athletes and coaches, maintaining that in summer especially it’s important to keep up energy and watch out for fatigue, injury, and sunburn.
5 lines personal opinion
(Example) I think this article was interesting, though it probably could have been more focused. I liked that they pointed out each athlete’s personal opinion on keeping hydrated and energized. It is definitely true that beginning to exercise again after a period of rest provides many challenges. Even when exercising in severe heat, without a break in training, it can be really hard to keep up endurance. I’m not sure if I’ll use some of the advice in this article in the future, but certain aspects of it are definitely valuable.
Make up for students during the SWIM unit ONLY (for students without doctors note)
Students can make up a missed day by reading an article about physical activity and health (of your choice) and writing a 5 lines summary and 5 lines personal opinion. Students without a doctors note can use this method 4 times maximum. (this means students can make up up to 4 missed swim days without a doctors note). If you need any other accommodation please talk to me.
