Tips for being successful at Corte Madera School

1. Make sure you’re in school and on time every day. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what work you have missed. As Ms. Brown would say “You miss school, you miss out!”

2. Organization is key. Make sure to use your student planner on a daily basis and contact classmates if you have a question about an assignment. Also, double check when assignments are due on the homework calendar. It is important that your notebook and backpack are kept neat and that you bring the materials you need to class everyday.

3. Make sure to take good notes. Write down key words, important names, dates and facts. Drawing pictures and color coding notes can be helpful. You can also compare notes with a study buddy.

4. Budget your time carefully. Make good use of extra class time in school to get work done. Also make sure to spend time every night studying and completing assignments even though they may not be due the next day. Break larger assignments into smaller parts.

5. Study wisely. Find a good quiet place to study with no distractions. Prioritize your subjects and organize your notes. Use graphic organizers and memorization techniques.

6. Test taking preparation. Stay calm, read the directions carefully, answer the question and review your answers. Use all available time. There’s no prize for finishing first.
