Core Knowledge is a program we teach at Grayhawk that teaches specific and sequential content in grades pre-K through 6th. It outlines what students need to know to succeed in future learning endeavors. At Grayhawk, our students build a "core" of background knowledge that they can tie to future content they will learn. They are encouraged to think deeply and at higher levels about topics and the teachers instruct students using multiple disciplines. While studying History, students will apply and discuss reading strategies and writing methods. While studying Science, students will integrate math skills.
Grayhawk Elementary is a Core Knowledge School of Distinction and we have been recognized by the Core Knowledge Foundation for our "outstanding content integration across subjects" and our "collaboration across the community".
