Dear Juniors, Sophomores, and Parents/Guardians,
The PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is a great tool for students considering college. Nearly every college-bound 11th grade student takes the PSAT in the fall of his or her junior year. The PSAT/NMSQT measures critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills and writing skills. Putnam Valley High School recommends that students take the PSAT/NMSQT in order to receive feedback about strengths and weaknesses, enter the competition for National Merit Scholar scholarships (11th graders) and to help prepare for the SAT, which students generally take in the spring of their junior year and fall of senior year. Smaller numbers of sophomores also choose to take the PSAT. Often, these students have already completed two years of high school math.
Putnam Valley High School will offer our 10th and 11th grade students the opportunity to take the PSAT on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 8:00 am.
