Welcome

The GMT program is a satellite program of the Salem County Vocational Technical School District. GMT is a diverse program with a strong concentration on design and technology. Students have the opportunity to explore their careers in the creative arts while learning new and innovative technologies. Students will have four years to develop a portfolio for furthering their education at the collegiate level. The goal of this program is to prepare individuals for a career in the creative arts.




Graphic Design

Graphic design, is the art and practice of planning and projecting ideas and experiences with visual and textual content. Students develop a critical eye for design principles and learn to implement them into various forms of projects. Projects will vary from print(magazine, posters, brochures, etc.) to in-depth multifaceted assignment (Pre-school, Yearbook, Game design, Product design, etc.)

Photography

Photography is the art of capturing the beauty of the world through images. The ability to manipulate light, space, and color to tell stories or capture moment. The field of photography is constantly growing and evolving opening opportunities for young photographer. GMT is the place to get the basic foundations while perfecting your craft and developing a portfolio. Over the four years you will have several opportunities and equipment to produce portfolio level project that display your style.

Illustration

Fine art is the ability to use various mediums (paint, pencil, plaster, etc.) to express or covet an idea. Student will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of Art principles while in the GMT program. There is formal art instruction for all levels by a certified art teacher. Each student has the option to choose one art elective from a variety of art courses. These courses will develop a student’s ability to draw and create in various mediums.

Interactive design utilizes the knowledge of design and art principles to create programs, games, animations, and websites for consumers. Over the four-year program, students will have the opportunity to learn software from flash and Dreamweaver to stencil and other game engines.

Cinematography

Students develop a creative eye while learning the technical aspects of camera parts and their function. Students learn about lighting composition and working with a green screen. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to use Premier, After Effects, and IMovie to create short films and trailers.
