Welcome to Peak Academy Archers, a youth lacrosse program dedicated to introducing and developing young athletes in grades 5th–8th to the fast-paced and exciting sport of lacrosse.
In proud partnership with NC Fusion and the Piedmont Community Lacrosse Association (PCLA), our mission is to grow the game in our community while building teamwork, confidence, and athleticism in every player.
Lacrosse is a fast-paced, team-oriented sport that combines the agility of basketball, the strategy of soccer, and the physicality of hockey. It is known as the oldest team sport in North America, originally played by Native American tribes.
Objective of the Game:
The goal of lacrosse is to score by shooting a small rubber ball into the opposing team’s goal using a lacrosse stick (also called a crosse). Players pass, catch, and carry the ball using the stick’s netted head.
Game Format
Teams: 10 players per side (3 attack, 3 midfielders, 3 defense, 1 goalie)
Quarters: Typically 4 quarters of 10–12 minutes each
Face-offs: Start of each quarter and after every goal
Key Rules
Passing & Catching: Players must use their stick to pass and catch the ball
Offsides: Teams must have at least 3 players on their defensive side and 4 on offense at all times
Body Checking: Allowed for 7th & 8th graders within rules; not permitted at younger ages
Crease Rule: Only the goalie can be inside the crease area around the goal

The Future of Lacrosse
Sixes, also known as World Lacrosse Sixes, is a modern, fast-paced version of lacrosse designed to make the game more exciting, inclusive, and accessible for all players — especially youth and new athletes.
Originally developed by World Lacrosse to grow the sport globally and prepare for Olympic inclusion, Sixes simplifies traditional lacrosse while keeping its energy, creativity, and athleticism.
Teams: 6 players (5 field players + 1 goalie)
Game Length: Typically 4 quarters of 8 minutes each
Shot Clock: 30 seconds to take a shot after gaining possession
Face-Offs: Only at the start of each quarter
No Offsides: Players can move freely across the field
Gameplay Rules
Co-Ed Friendly: Boys and girls play together with a focus on skill, not contact
Limited Contact: Stick and body checks are controlled and monitored for safety
Substitutions: On-the-fly (like hockey)
Crease Rules: Only the goalie may enter the crease area
Goal Scoring: Anyone can score from anywhere within the offensive half
🟢 Co-Ed Friendly – Boys and girls can play together safely and competitively
⚡ Fast-Paced – Fewer stoppages, quicker transitions, and more scoring opportunities
🏃 More Touches, More Fun – Smaller rosters mean every player gets involved
🧠 Focus on Skill Development – Encourages smart movement, passing, and teamwork
