UPDATES

January 2024

Classlist Updates

Please note that after our courseroom cleanups of last fall, when all graduates and non-active students were removed from your courserooms, a script was scheduled so that your rosters are updated weekly on Saturdays. The number that you see in your Brightspace roster should be the correct number of members in your organization within the last seven days.

Commencement Celebrations

Your organization is welcome to host a virtual commencement celebration on the Monday prior to each commencement ceremony. You may also collaborate with other related organizations to celebrate your graduates, if that is desired. If you would like to brainstorm ideas for an event like this, or register your commencement event, please review this set of guidelines from the Commencement Office, then get in touch with Beth Smith to add your event to the calendar as an official commencement event. Note that your event must be booked with Beth 90 days prior to graduation.

OCIE Opportunities

Students are always welcome to attend any events sponsored by OCIE unless the event is specifically designated as for faculty and staff only. Student organizations are also encouraged to share any diversity and inclusion related events with the OCIE office for support. Email the details to ocie@purdueglobal.edu!

September 2022

New Video Library

Throughout the year, we will be posting videos with tips and tricks to help make your organization more efficient, more effective, and more engaging. The video library can be found on the Faculty Advisor Resources page.

Our first two videos are designed to help you make better use of your Brightspace courseroom. The first shows you the two options for Brightspace courseroom layouts, and the second walks you through the process of setting up an automated message to welcome new students.

Let us know what you'd like to see in future videos!

Course Roster Data Update

The ticket for our courserooms to be updated has been submitted! We are waiting for our CampusVue techs to create a script that will allow us to not only remove graduated and dropped students from organizations, but will keep our course rosters updated going forward.

We are also working on a self-enrollment and unenrollment option for students to join organizations open to all programs.

Look for more information in the coming weeks on both of these exciting tech developments.

April 2022

Courseroom Cleanup

You will see some changes in your organization's class list in the coming days. We are working with Data Analysis and the Registrar's Office to remove alumni from course rooms, in order to give us a much more accurate picture of student engagement on the club and campus levels. (If your organization is affiliated with a national association that requires alumni to remain active with their chapter, your roster will not change.)

Shared File Storage

Over the course of the next few days, you will receive a sharing notice from the Student Life Google Drive. We have created shared storage for each registered student organization. This is the first step toward helping student orgs maintain required documents and share files to make organization operations more efficient. Please share the folder with your executive board members.

Branding Policy

In your shared folder, you will find a PDF containing four versions of your club's approved PG logo: two on white backgrounds, and two on dark. These are the only approved logos for your club. Any other images created from within your club or elsewhere are no longer permissible for use.  We know this may be disappointing for some of you whose clubs have created individual logos, but this is a University-wide policy that does have a positive side...

Fundraising

Starting in mid-May, apparel will be available in the PG School Store for every registered student organization! T-shirts, hoodies, and crewnecks will be available in multiple colors.  Organizations will receive a portion of the sales of each item. This ensures that all registered student organizations will have a consistent source of revenue throughout the year that can be used for events or prizes!

When it comes to special fundraisers with a particular goal, organizations will be able to choose additional items to sell in the store for a limited time. These items could include additional items of apparel or hard goods like coffee cups, glassware, and more.

The PG store will take the place of Teespring or any other online vendors that organizations may have been using to raise funds. The advantages to using the store include easier payment processing, consistent pricing, and approved logo marks. They will also take care of all shipping and processing.
