What motivated you to want to go to college and Purdue Global in particular?

My motivation is my family. In particular, I want to model how best to set goals and strive for them--at any time and age in life. Part of being a good mother is taking care of myself and finding my path once my kids grow up and leave the house. Continual learning is my key to developing myself as more than just a mother, enabling me to grow and be influential in my children's lives into adulthood.

What is one challenge you have faced in continuing or completing your studies/degree? How did you overcome that challenge?

As a single parent, learning to prioritize myself in addition to my five children has taken time and work each and every term.

What was your most positive experience at Purdue Global and why?

Being a part of a community that supports continued learning and growth as an adult has been invaluable to me in my journey.

How has going to college impacted you and your family?

My commitment to my studies has modeled good habits to my children during their elementary and high school years in a way that just telling them to study could not demonstrate. We all study, we all struggle with motivation, and we all strive to be better together.

What advice would you give to first-generation college students thinking about attending Purdue Global?

There is a specific benefit to every negative fear or consideration you are thinking about--just go for it!
