What motivated you to want to go to college and Purdue Global in particular?

I have always wanted to get my degree, but when my daughter was starting to look at college, she said that she could not go to school and work. So I finally signed up to prove her wrong. I chose Purdue Global because of how well my questions were answered and really how fast it was to get everything going.

What is one challenge you have faced in continuing or completing your studies/degree? How did you overcome that challenge?

The biggest challenge that I have faced has been time management: trying to balance school, work, and family/home life has really been a huge challenge. I had a great support system and pure determination on my side. I kept telling myself not to quit and keep pushing through; it will be worth it in the end.

What was your most positive experience at Purdue Global and why?

I will have to say working with my original advisor. She was amazing; constantly encouraging me and telling me how well I was doing. It really gave me that something extra to keep pushing forward.

How has going to college impacted you and your family?

My younger children have seen the importance that I have always placed on education, being put to work. I think it has shown them that getting good grades is important, and they do not come easy. You have to put the time and effort in to get the result. It has changed my life. I am finally finishing something that I have started and I did very well at it. I have been able to apply the things that I am learning into practical real-time use at home and at work.

What advice would you give to first-generation college students thinking about attending Purdue Global?

Don't sell yourself short. There are many challenges in life and things are always going to come up, however, with a little bit of determination coupled with the amazing support that you will get from the Purdue Global staff, there is no way you can fail if you want it bad enough.
