Accepting a student is an easy three step process
Review the Applied Behavior Analysis Evaluation criteria at the end of this document to ensure your facility will be able to provide students with the appropriate experience.
2.Complete the Purdue University Global Fieldwork Affiliation Agreement for the student to submit to PG. The Affiliation Agreement must be received and approved by Purdue Global before the student is cleared to enroll in the practicum course.
If your facility has a standard affiliation agreement and prefers touse that agreement rather than Purdue Global’s agreement, pleasesubmit the agreement to Dawn Tesner dtesner@purdueglobal.edu.
If the student is an employee or will be employed by the facility duringthe rotation, the paid addendum also needs to be completed. This discloses that the student will be receiving reimbursement for hours of which he or she is also receiving educational credit. If the student will not be getting paid for their practicum hours, the paid addendum is not needed.
Select a supervisor for the student’s fieldwork who is a BACB-approved certificant (BCBA or BCBA-D) willing to supervise those pursuing BCBA or BCaBA certification. Check the BACB Certificant Registry for available supervisors.
The supervisor may be an employee of the facility where the student will be completing the rotation, or, if acceptable to the facility, he or she may be an outside BCBA conducting supervision of the student independently. Please see the BCBA Handbook or BCaBA Handbook under Supervisor Requirements to make sure a supervisor is qualified per BACB standards.
Once a student begins placement, the student will submit hours electronically via CORE ELMS, a document tracking system. You will receive an email to confirm or deny the hours via a link in the email with each submission of hours. Additionally, near the end of the term, the system will generate an evaluation for you to complete electronically, assessing the progress of the student.
The evaluation criteria is available here so that you will know the types of skills the student would be assessed on during the rotation. The evaluation must be filled out electronically as paper copies are not accepted.
The PG student is responsible for securing their field placement site and supervisor, gaining approval for the site and supervisor from PG, completing the 150 hours, and submitting all required documentation to PG’s clinical tracking software, CORE ELMS. Hours submitted to CORE ELMS must be completed during the academic term in which the course is taken.
PG Faculty will teach the fieldwork course and monitor student completion of hours. Faculty will also review the evaluation submitted by the fieldwork supervisor.
PG’s Clinical Placement Team (CPT) will review and approve all pre-field placement documentation in compliance with University policy. The CPT will serve as a secondary reviewer for hours and evaluations to ensure compliance with University policy.
