Complete all necessary documentation required for practicum by the established deadlines
- Before your practicum:
Complete orientation requirements as outlined in CORE ELMS.
Secure a site and supervisor for your practicum
Work with your site supervisor to identify goals for your practicum
- During practicum:
Log in and participate in class activities
This includes seminars, discussions, and assignments
Participate in activities as assigned by the site
Be prepared
Dress appropriately and in accordance with the site’s guidelines
Conduct yourself in an ethical and professional manner at all times
Arrive on time and work as scheduled
Discuss concerns in a timely manner
Log hours at the site in the CORE ELMS hours log.
Complete the minimum required number of hours for each practicum course
Undergraduate

If you reside in a state that requires more than 175 hours per PG practicum course, and you are seeking a bachelor's level state licensure, please contact your state to determine the number of hours needed.
If you feel that you may not be able to complete the PS455 Addictions Practicum I prescribed requirements in 10 weeks, you must contact the Clinical Placement Team in order to receive an extension in the course. If an extension is granted, you will enroll in PS455A Addictions Practicum I Extension which will allow you up to 10 extra weeks to complete the requirements of PS455 Addictions Practicum I. Enrollment in these courses will only be granted at the discretion of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
If you feel that you may not be able to complete the PS456 Addictions Practicum II prescribed requirements in 10 weeks, you must contact the Clinical Placement Team in order to gain an extension in the course. If an extension is granted, you will enroll in PS456A Addictions Practicum II Extension which will allow you up to 10 extra weeks to complete the requirements of PS456 Addictions Practicum II. Enrollment in these courses will only be granted at the discretion of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.

*Addictions Concentration
If you are enrolled in the addictions concentration, you will take PS535 Addictions Practicum I and PS536 Addictions Practicum II.
If you feel that you may not be able to complete the PS535 Addictions Practicum I prescribed requirements in 10 weeks, you must contact the Clinical Placement Team in order to receive an extension in the course. If an extension is granted, you will enroll in PS535A Addictions Practicum I Extension and/or PS535B Addictions Practicum I Extension which will allow you up to 20 extra weeks to complete the requirements of PS535 Addictions Practicum I. Enrollment in these courses will only be granted at the discretion of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
If you feel that you may not be able to complete the PS536 Addictions Practicum II prescribed requirements in 10 weeks, you must contact the Clinical Placement Team in order to gain an extension in the course. If an extension is granted, you will enroll in PS536A Addictions Practicum II Extension and/or PS536B Addictions Practicum II Extension which will allow you up to 20 extra weeks to complete the requirements of PS536 Addictions Practicum II. Enrollment in these courses will only be granted at the discretion of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
Note: Indiana students are required to obtain 700 hours of university-sponsored practicum to seek state licensure as an addiction counselor.
Purdue Global's Responsibilities
Purdue Global's Responsibilities
The Purdue Global psychology department will determine whether you have met the requirements necessary to begin practicum.
The Clinical Placement Team will accomplish the following:
Provide you with practicum processes and expectations.
Review and approve all pre-practicum documentation.
Interact with the site supervisor as required by the state board or Purdue Global policy.
Interact as necessary with the practicum course instructor regarding your experience and progress/concerns.
The Site's Responsibilities
The Site's Responsibilities
The site and site supervisor will determine if you have met the requirements necessary to complete the practicum component at the site.
Complete and sign the Affiliation Agreement.
Provide a safe work environment.
Provide a professionally qualified supervisor for you.
Orient you to the site’s organizational goals, structure, and operating practices.
Provide experience and guidance to help you meet the required number of client- or industry-related hours.
Allow you access to appropriate staff members and clients.
Ensure that you conduct yourself within the ethical guidelines outlined by the organization.
Report to the Clinical Placement Team any problems with your behavior or conduct.
Site Supervisor's Responsibilities
Site Supervisor's Responsibilities
Determine your competency level and evaluate accordingly.
Support your professional development.
Provide you feedback in a timely manner.
Identify and discuss areas of your skill development.
Provide a dynamic and engaging learning experience.
Assist you with questions, as well as direction of a project to ensure mutual benefit of experience.
Keep detailed records of your interactions, including dates of supervision and notes. Keep documentation per Purdue Global or state licensing requirements.
Confirm or deny hours submitted to CORE ELMS in a timely manner.
Complete the performance evaluation and review it with you concerning your rotation by the end of your term.
Communicate any issues or concerns that may arise with the PG Clinical Placement Team.
