Your program at Purdue Global is not a licensure track program, and therefore may not be eligible for the LPC, MHC, MFT or any other general counseling license in your state after completion of your program. The licensure requirements in psychology vary by state. Purdue Global has provided the licensing information as guidance and makes every effort to provide current information. However, state regulations are frequently revised. Therefore, prior to beginning a program which educationally prepares students for professional licensure, Purdue Global strongly encourages you to contact the state licensing board where you intend to seek licensure to ensure the program will meet the state's licensing requirements.

It is important to be aware that states periodically change their requirements for licensure and certification.

Completion of a Purdue Global degree program is not a guarantee of a graduate's ability to obtain a state license. Eligibility may depend on work experience, completion of education or degree requirements, not having a criminal record, passing a background check, or meeting other certification requirements.

As you are pursuing an addictions practicum, you will be required to research your state requirements for the state for which you will be completing your practicum experience. Requirements for addictions counselors vary from state to state, and you must be aware of the most recent requirements for the state in which you will be practicing. You must adhere to the guidelines of the state during practicum experience. If you are pursuing opportunities in more than one state, you will need to research requirements in each state for which you are pursuing practicum placement.  Detailed instructions are provided on the practicum application. 

The university and/or clinical placement team is not responsible for providing guidance regarding state credentials in your field.  You should direct questions to your supervisor at the site and the state board.

If you plan to seek state licensure or a professional credential, it is your responsibility to understand and maintain the appropriate documentation for your state's requirements.
