Over the summer, I participated in the 4th annual girls leadership program called Girls Talk Back to discuss with other high school students about women's issues, and to start my curriculum for autism education. We met every day for four hours over the span of three weeks to create and idea for a project, and work with a mentor to implement those ideas.
This program was important to me because I had the opportunity to connect with students from across the island to learn about their unique experiences, and how we can support each other to create an inclusive environment. I also had the opportunity to meet with students from Punahou who were working to reduce period poverty, and learned about the next phases of their project. I enjoyed the concept of women supporting women through learning and helping each other on our passion projects.
