Carley Shanks
I am a high school graduate of Pulaski County and graduated from Campbellsville University with both my undergrad (BSW) and graduate (MSW) in social work. I am a licensed Kentucky Clinical Social Worker (CSW) and former Mental Health Therapist. I have a passion working with teens and their families, helping them to grow and become a better version of themselves.
To me, the YSC is a place where students can come to feel safe, when they need someone to talk to, when they need advice, or when they just need a place to regroup— a space where individuals’ emotional, physical, physiological, and social needs can be addressed. The YSC is not a place students should be embarrassed to come, but to be a place where they feel comfortable, accepted, heard, and confident.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, and outside of work, we love to spend time in nature. This usually includes hiking, being on the lake, hunting, or working on home projects. I also love thrifting, all things antique, going to car shows, animals (of any kind), spending time with my family, traveling, and volunteering at my church.

I am a high school graduate of Pulaski County High School and spent 18 years as a stay-at-home with my two girls. I am very passionate about working along side students and families as well as, helping students build the future they aspire to have for themselves.
I truly love what I do. My job gives me the chance to make a difference every day — whether it’s through collaborating with my team, helping students solve problems, or finding new ways to make our work more efficient and impactful. I take pride in bringing positivity, dedication, and creativity to everything I do, and I enjoy the challenges that help me grow both personally and professionally. The YSC is a place that students and families can come when they need anything-- the one stop shop!
I have been married for 25+ years to my other half and outside of work, I enjoy traveling, spending time reading, singing at church, thrifting, staying at home on my farm with my animals. I value experiences that let me relax, recharge, see new places, and stay connected with the people and things I care about most.
