Important: The FAFSA opens in December this year. All seniors who are interested in attending college must complete the FAFSA. Below are some documents to help you complete the FAFSA.
FAFSA Quick Facts
The 2024-2025 FAFSA opens in December 2025.
Studentaid.gov is the website that you will use to complete your FAFSA
The parent/guardian FSA ID must be different from the student’s FSA ID. You must use a different email address for each FSA ID. Your name must match what is on your Social Security Card exactly and do not use your name in your password. If you have a child already in college, parents will use the same FSA ID.
Students should use a personal email they know the username and password for; not their school email.
Use 2023 taxes that have already been filed. Use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool within the FAFSA if able, to help retrieve your 2023 tax information from the IRS.
Complete the FAFSA as soon as possible.
Check your email periodically to see if any corrections are necessary and they must be completed before the state issues any aid.
How to Create an FSA ID
This is the first step in completing the FAFSA and it is required to log in and access the FAFSA. Here is a video from KHEAA that will help you with creating this:
