CLOSE Reading 3 Read Chart and Annotation Symbols
To CLOSE Read students need to read the text 3 times, each time it is for a different purpose. For the first read go over the CLOSE Reading Annotation and Symbols chart again. Have them do each type of annotation on the article Tackling the Pink Tax.
For the second read of Tackling the Pink Tax follow the second read chart and have them answer the following questions 1. What text structures and text features were used? 2.What was the author's purpose? 3. How does the author feel about the subject? Why did the author use particular words and phrases?
For the third read of Tackling the Pink Tax follow the third read chart and have them answer the following questions (this is the hardest part). 1. What inferences can you make? 2. How does the author support the key points and give specific examples from the text? 3. How does this relate to other texts you have read? 4. How does this relate to your life?
