Year 0/1/2 Information
Year 1 and 2 netball is held at Netball North Harbour on Monday afternoons.
How the Junior Format Works
In Year 1 and 2 the game is reduced to a 4-aside version, played across the court on just one third. Goals are smaller – set at around 2.3m, the ball is softer and there are no set positions. The aim is to develop fundamental movement and ball skills before we worry about the more complex rules of the game. Players will be put into teams at the start of the season, with a parent coach appointed to each team. Each week consists of a 15 min skill session, which is set out for the coach in the Future Ferns guidebook, followed by a 15 minute game between teams. There are no umpires – the coach is on the court with the players helping them. For more information please visit www.futureferns.co.nz
Year 3-6 Information
This season all Year 3-6 teams will play in the Netball North Harbour Competition. Years 5 and 6 teams play on Saturday mornings at the Westlake courts (commencing 7th May). Please see below for further information on the format and requirements for each Year group.

The fees we charge go towards covering the Netball North Harbour registration fees for each of our teams, and ensuring each team has uniforms and the playing/training equipment they need. This year for Year 3-6 players we have set the fees at a flat rate of $80 per player (Year 3-6). Please note however that if uniforms are not returned at the end of the season, or returned in a poor state, parents will be invoiced for replacements. Uniforms are not handed out until fees have been paid.

Volunteer Coaches, Managers and Umpires needed
Netball at Pt Chevalier School is run by parents and we are always looking for keen netball lovers to help out with the coaching, managing and administering of our netball programme. Coaches for Year 0/1/2 and 5-aside Year 3/4 teams need to be at the games and run the sessions which are prepared for you by Netball New Zealand. No extra practices are necessary for these teams. Coaches for 7-aside Year 3/4 and Years 5 and 6 teams need to run one practice per week (at school) and be at the games. Managers look after registration, uniform distribution/collection, email/text weekly game details and manage attendance/absence. For Year 0/1/2 teams the coach will be on the court with the players. Please note that if we do not have enough coaches, managers and umpires we will not be able to place everyone into a team. The Years 4-6 teams generally practice once a week, either before or after school on the school courts. Practice days and times are set by the team coach and manager, in consultation with parents to find a time that suits everyone.
Netball Code of Fair Play
Our Code of Fair Play sets out our expectations of players representing Pt Chevalier School in netball this season, and our expectations for parents/caregivers. The Code applies at all times – at the annual muster, weekly training as well as at every game. Please familiarise yourself with the Code – it can be found on the school website and coaches will be requested to take their teams through it once the season is underway.
