Mr. Butzko or commonly known on campus as “Mr. B”, grew up in Fairfield, CT which is a suburb of NYC. While in high school he was active in the marching band while also working part-time at a local store. After graduation he attended Bryant University in Smithfield, RI and obtained his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. He worked in retail management in NY and NJ for several years. I am very fond of the East Coast and especially New York City.
Always dreaming of becoming a teacher, Mr. B went back to school at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ and obtained his first Master’s Degree in Business Education. Mr. B then started working as a business teacher at several high schools in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Relocating from the East Coast to the West Coast was a major life change, Mr. B. started working at several high schools in California as a teacher and Academy Coordinator. Wishing another change in life, Mr. B went back to school at Redlands University and obtained his second Master’s Degree in School Counseling. He has worked as a counselor at Nellie Coffman Middle School since 2014 and looks forward to helping all cougars succeed in middle school.
Hello I am Mrs. Rodriguez, I was born and raised here in the Coachella Valley in the east end, in Coachella. I am a mother of two, a wonderful girl and boy, and a wife. After I graduated from Coachella Valley High School I attended the University of Redlands where I obtained my BA in Sociology and Spanish with a minor in Latin American Studies in 2014. As soon as I graduated from Redlands I obtained a job in PSUSD as a Prevention Specialist.
It is because of this job and working side by side with the counselors that my passion to become a school counselor grew. I then went on to pursue my Master of Science in Educational Counseling which I fulfilled in 2021, and have been a middle school counselor since then. I am so excited to be part of the cougar family and help all the students succeed in middle school and beyond.
My name is Ms. Flores, I am the English Language Learner Counselor here at Nellie Coffman Middle School. I was born and raised here in the Coachella Valley. I am proud to be a Cathedral City High School Alumni! As well as also a member of the Lions' Pride Chamber Singers while in high school. For those of you who know Mrs. Le Roy, yes, she was my teacher too! After graduating, I attended California State University of San Bernardino, Palm Desert Campus and was part of the first graduating class of freshman in 2017. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. For years, I worked as a substitute teacher at Palm Springs Unified School District. Therefore, some of you may recognize me.
During my time as a substitute teacher, I realized that I enjoyed working in the school setting and that influenced my decision to go back to school. I obtained my Master's Degree in Counseling and Guidance in 2021 and since then have been a School Counselor. I have worked in the Elementary School setting and now I am excited to be working with Nellie Coffman Middle school. I am looking forward to meeting you all soon!
