STEMScopes and Discovery Education have greatly supported my special education students by offering engaging, accessible, and differentiated content that meets their diverse learning needs. The use of visuals, interactive simulations, and read-aloud features helps make abstract concepts more concrete and easier to understand. Both platforms provide multiple entry points for learning through hands-on activities, simplified texts, and multimedia resources, which support IEP goals and encourage participation. I plan on using these tools to increase my students' confidence, motivation, and comprehension in science and math, while also allowing me to monitor progress and tailor instruction effectively.
At the beginning of the year, this student was often in trouble—frequent suspensions, lots of class disruptions, and hardly any work completed. He struggled to focus and often acted out instead of asking for help. After a team meeting, we discovered this student needed glasses and had trouble seeing the board.
Now, with his new glasses, this student sits at the front of the class by choice. He participates more, stays on task, and hasn’t had a referral in months. He’s proud of his progress—and so are we.
