Adaptations and the Wide World of Frogs!
In this module, students will use literacy skills to become experts—people who use reading, writing, listening, and speaking to build and share deep knowledge about a topic. The module begins with students researching to learn about frogs and amphibians through informational texts. By the end of the module we will hop into some narratives as we explore poetry and pourquoi tales about different types of frogs. At the end of the module, students will use their background 'expert' knowledge to write their own fictional pourquoi narrative stories!
Students can access online book collections using thier PSD credentials on Epic until 3pm daily!
Talk to your child about the creatures he or she is studying and what makes them unique.
Talk to your child about his or her informative text and the elements of an effective informative text.
Choose sentences or paragraphs in an excerpt of text and invite your child to tell you about the connections he or she can identify.
Read narrative and informational books about frogs.
Watch television documentaries about frogs.
*Your student is expected to independently read topic-related books or books of their choice for approximately 20 minutes each day.
