Service Learning is a key part of the JROTC experience, combining classroom instruction with meaningful community service. Through carefully planned projects, cadets apply leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to address real needs in their schools and communities.
Develop leadership and responsibility by taking charge of projects from planning to completion.
Build stronger communities through volunteer work, outreach, and partnerships with local organizations.
Connect learning to real life by applying academic and leadership skills in hands-on situations.
Reflect on their impact and grow as citizens of character and service.
By engaging in Service Learning, cadets learn the value of helping others while strengthening the skills needed to succeed in school, in their careers, and in life.
Service learning has always been a priority for Powder Battalion. Last year our cadets volunteered in a number of food drive events hosted by Food Bank of the Rockies, as well as donating blood through the American Red Cross. This past week we carried on a battalion tradition of hosting 1 or more children during the holidays as a part of the "Angel Tree" program in Colorado. The pictures to the left showcase how proud both of our AM and PM classes are to be able to gift presents four different children this season through cash donations. In the upcoming weeks any cadet willing and able will have the opportunity to donate blood once again through the American Red Cross. Stay tuned on our Instagram @powder_battalion to see photos and videos of cadet's experiences and takeaways.
