Fort Collins High School was established in 1889 and the first class graduated in 1891
We currently occupy the fourth building to house FCHS - the most recent still stands at 1400 Remington St. and is now a part of the Colorado State University performing arts department
Thanks, in part, to an outstanding run of state and national championships during the early 1900's, FCHS became known as the "Home of the Champions"
Travel, Travel the Lambkin Way Down the valley the Lambkins go
Travel by night, travel by day! Up the hill where the fierce winds blow;
Who goes there on the Lambkin Way? Hope goes with them ever kind,
A goodly company. And patience with a quiet mind
Virtue they carry in their hand, Eager, they look with long eyes,
To build a fairer, better land, Straight before them the city lies;
Kindly people, fair of face Over pathway’s rise and dip,
With flow’rs of gentleness and grace The City of sweet fellowship.
Travel, travel the Lambkin Way,
Travel by night, travel by day:
Who goes there on the Lambkin Way?
A goodly company, a goodly company
~ M. Rose & S. Young
Every Friday the A Capella choir performs "Travel" as well as the FCHS Alma Mater from the P Hall stairs. In the "old" Fort Collins HS the choir performed from main stair case, thus this is an enduring tradition of FCHS.
