The Registration Process: Spring 2026
FCHS Registration Process
Last year, FCHS has revamped the entire registration process to allow students more autonomy in the scheduling process. In the Registration Kick-off Presentations, students will learn how to review their graduation requirements and select appropriate courses that align with their academic plan for the next school year. Students will be given a specific Registration Appointment time starting in January /February to meet with their counselor individually to review and finalize their course selection. It is imperative students select the courses they intend to take for the following year as we build the school wide schedule off these requests and staff our building accordingly.
In April, current 9th-11th graders, students will have access to the school wide schedule and be given the opportunity to select the specific courses (quarter and period) and build their own desired schedule based on the classes they chose earlier. Students are advised to create at least two schedules’ options in case their preferred classes are full. Students will be given a Schedule Build Appointment to build their schedule in the system with their counselor. Students will only be able to select courses they requested earlier in the year. If students want classes they did not request, they will have to wait for the Schedule Repair period in late May and early August. Please note we cannot overfill classes. Once classes are full, they are full; no exceptions. Counselors and/or Administrators do have the right to adjust schedules as needed. Schedule Build appointments will be arranged by grade level and assigned at random. Students who miss their scheduled appointment can come during the scheduled make-up times for their grade level.

Last spring, students pre-registered for classes and the school wide schedule was built from the classes that were selected. Counselors did their best to make the best academic schedule for their students and may not be able to honor some requests. Freshmen are highly recommended to have 4 classes on their schedules per quarter. Upper classmen are required to have a minimum of 3 classes on their schedules for each quarter.
Schedule Repairs Forms – Schedule Repair Forms will be limited to errors in a student’s schedule (double classes in a period, wrong level, missing core class, etc.) and will not address changes to a student’s course plan (ICAP) (aka “changing their mind”). Schedule Repair Forms will be available at student check in and counselors will review these forms and requests when they can prior to the appointment window.
Schedule Repair Appointments– Schedule Repair Appointments are a time frame that addresses changes in a student’s course plan (ICAP) and allows students to meet with their counselor. Appointments can be made during the Schedule Repair window which takes place during the final exam days the prior quarter and the first two days of the new quarter. For the equity of all students, Counselors will only make schedule changes in-person with students. Counselors will not make schedule changes over the telephone or via email. Students will be making Schedule Repair appointments using their online booking system available on the Fort Collins High School website under Student Services.
Dropping without Penalty - Students may drop a class the first four weeks of the quarter (if the drop will not put the student below the required classes) and receive a “W” on the transcript. This will not affect a student’s GPA.
Dropping with Penalty: Student may drop a class after the first four weeks which will result in a “F” on the student transcript and will affect the student’s GPA.
Concurrent Enrollment: College level courses (High School Select and Campus Select) adhere to the deadlines and policies provided by the college which may be different from the high school.
