Humanities

Welcome to my Humanities class!  We hope to learn about the most basic of humanities, human culture.  Initially, we will go over some terms, ideas, themes, quotes, and concepts, and then watch a great film that illustrates those concepts, The Gods Must Be Crazy, from way back in the 80s, when I had hair.  This will culminate in the students putting together a Culture Gallery Walk in which they study a particular culture for their classmates to experience through their presentation.  After that, I hope to study Ancient Mesopotamia and their contributions to world history and humanities.  We hope to learn about the architecture and the inventions that paved the way for an agricultural revolution.  Lastly, we will delve into the leadership of this time, specifically Sargon I and Hammurabi and his code of laws...the first written code of laws.   And if we have time, we'll read about the adventures of Gilgamesh.  All in all, I am looking forward to sharing the experience and seeing you all in class.
