Welcome to my modern American history class! This is like the history that I never have the time to get to because there is so much to cover in my regular history class. This hexter we will be examining in-depth the two things that caused the American people to lose trust in their government: Vietnam and Watergate. This class is kind of like the oldies station that your grandparents listen to...remember the sixties and seventies? We will take a deep dive into America's involvement in Vietnam, how it all started, how it escalated, and how we managed to extricate ourselves after ten long years, in what was probably one of the most divisive periods of the 20th Century. If we have time, we will also examine Watergate and the resignation of Richard Nixon (I do a great Richard Nixon impersonation, by the way). This all may be a tall order, but we will give it a try. If we don't get to all of it, it will still be a wild ride and a look back at quite frankly, a simpler time?....simpler, compared to now? So, let the games begin, get ready for some quotes, what happened on "this day" and a look back at those rebellious sixties and the 1970s, when the United States lost its innocence.
