INTRO
Breakout EDU takes the appeal of the “escape room,” a recreational team sport in which a group of people uses their wits to break out of a locked room, and turns it inside-out. Instead of a locked room, teams must figure out how to get inside a tightly locked box. Breakout EDU builds the wooden boxes by hand and sells them online, along with an assortment of hasps, locks, invisible-ink pens and guidelines.Teachers build lessons around students’ nearly insatiable need to get into that @#$% box.
HOW IT WORKS
DETAILS
Each kit loaned out from the Mobile Learning Initiative may have different locking mechanisms, please familiarize yourself with your box(es). Actual KITS #1-7 breakdowns are found HERE.
As well, BEFORE starting a new game or returning a breakoutEDU box, please zero out ALL number locks, and write down all directions on the BREAKOUT EDU SpreadSheet. This helps keep track of how the locks were used by the previous person.

MORE LOCKS can be purchased at our local Home Depot, Canadian Tire or even directly from BreakoutEDU. Other businesses do sell locks you just need to make sure that they can be reset. If you have access to a 3D printer, you can even print out your own breakoutEDU hasp at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1547143.
LOCK BOXES can be almost anything that has the ability to have a hasp lock around it. Pencil cases, makeup cases, tackle boxes or even a homemade wooden box.
GAMES are constantly added to https://games.breakoutedu.com/ and there is a great template at http://www.breakoutedu.com/create that teachers can use.
