Why  AV I D?

Your student may be just entering high school and graduation may seem like forever from now, or your student is a current freshman, sophomore or junior…no matter the age, navigating that path to college or technical school is made so much easier with Peninsula High School’s AVID program.  AVID stands for Advancement via Individual Determination and it is targeted at helping students reach their full potential and achieve their goals of attending their post-secondary school of choice.

The program has grown since our first AVID class graduated in 2019 and now we have eight AVID classes running each year. Students prepare for Scholarship Night and post-secondary plans in their AVID Elective class by exploring their interests, researching careers, and finding schools that are the best fit for them.  Along the way, they take rigorous courses, learn valuable school and life skills that will help them prepare for their future after high school, and participate in their school and community activities.  Most of all, they have had so much fun, created memories, and built a family in their AVID classroom that has helped shape the foundation of their high school experience.

We would like to extend the opportunity for your student to join the AVID community and help reach individual goals. It takes a lot of preparation and hard work and our AVID teachers are fully committed to and prepared to help your student build the skills they need and guide them in the right direction.
