Artifact 1:
Category 1: Some of my best mathematical thinking
I chose Veterinary Weights because I think I explained things well. I also chose Veterinary Weights because I am pleased with the final result. I labeled, I showed equations, and my whole thinking process.
Artifact 2:
Category 5: Making Connections
This scenario shows that I made a connection between an old math idea and a new math idea. I used ratios to convert British Pounds to US Dollars. When I went to London I ran out of Pounds. My dad said he'd pay for it if I payed him back in US Dollars when we got home. I took up his offer. So I wanted to buy a little red double decker bus 1.60 pounds. To solve this I used ratios. I know that the ratio of US Dollars to British Pounds is 1:.8. .8x2=1.60. 1x2=2, so therefore, I owed him 2 US Dollars.

Category 4: Modeling Thinking
Puppies Grow up shows where I used a tool or a model to support my thinking. I used a double number line to help me solve about how much Jada's puppy will weigh when he or she grows up. It also helped me get my thinking straight and helped me visualize what's really going on in my head.

Category 5: Making Connections
Portion of a whole shows that I made a connection between a new math idea and an old math idea. I used ratios to help me solve this problem. At first I was kind of stuck. I just started to divide that odd shape into equal sections. After I did that I counted the number of sections. 7. Then I realized each section must be 5%. Then I counted the dots in each section. 3. Then I realized the ratio of percent to number of dots was 5:3.
