As in past summers, we are offering the PS 29 Summer Math Challenge - packets will be backpacked home in late June, and you can also print out those packets straight from this site (see below). Students who complete the challenge will be celebrated with certificates and prizes in the fall!
In addition to the Summer Math Challenge, each grade level page, linked in the menu bar above, provides a ton of resources including games, websites, apps, printable worksheets, and enrichment tasks and opportunities.
Finally, we're offering some targeted resources and tasks for students who can use extra practice over the summer with certain skills or content areas.
Each summer math calendar linked below contains short, daily activities that will reinforce what your student learned this year in math. Students who complete at least 80 percent of the activities will receive a certificate and be invited to a celebration (whether in-person or virtual) in the fall!
Read this letter for more details on the summer math calendars that make up this challenge. Please note that the grade level for each packet corresponds to the grade your child has just finished (e.g. if your child just finished 1st grade, they should use the 1st grade packet).
Not sure what the end of year expectations are for your child's grade? These slides give a quick overview of the content the standards call for students to know and understand by the end of each grade.
For students who can use extra work on specific areas of math to strengthen foundational skills for the next grade, we offer the following targeted resources and tasks.
STEM toys and games encourage mathematical thinking, in a playful way! The toys and games listed below are ones we know that PS 29 students have enjoyed in the past. Feel free to share your own suggestions with kvanduzer@ps29bk.org!
