What is a School Leadership Team (SLT) ?

The School Leadership Team (SLT) is a vital group within our school community. Comprising parents and staff the SLT collaboratively develops educational policies and ensures resources to support them. 

Key points about the SLT:

Membership:

1. • The SLT includes the principal, Parent Association/Parent-Teacher Association (PA/PTA) president, and United Federation of Teachers (UFT) chapter leader.

   • Elected parents and staff members also serve on the SLT.

   • The team’s bylaws specify the exact composition.

Responsibilities:

1. • Develops the school’s Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP).

   • Provides ongoing evaluations of educational programs and their impact on student achievement.

   • Enhances collaborative decision-making and fosters a positive school culture.

   • Consulted prior to principal or assistant principal appointments.

Decision Making:

SLTs use consensus-based decision-making, ensuring all members contribute to shaping final decisions.

Frequency:

1. • The SLT meets monthly during the academic year.

   • Meeting dates are typically scheduled in advance and communicated to all members and stakeholders.
