PS195X Programs

PS 195X offers an amazing variety of courses to students in order to help students succeed. We follow the New York City Department of Education’s common core curriculum in our classrooms. We understand the importance of engagement and student emotional and social growth. Our school implements literature, math, science, social studies, technology, physical education, and arts into our students education.

Art

PS195X offers all its students a high-quality arts program. The Art specialty program aims at teaching important life skills, such as creativity, cooperation, discipline, and analysis. Our students are able to grow creatively and intellectually by having positive outlets for arts learning and self-expression. Arts teachers and organizations support your child's arts learning in their classroom and school.

Drama / Theater

PS195X offers its students Drama as a specialty were student are exposed to the arts. Drama allows students to communicate with and understand others in new ways. ... Drama is an important tool for preparing students to live and work in a world that is increasingly TEAM-ORIENTED rather than hierarchical. Drama also helps students develop TOLERANCE and EMPATHY.

In addition each year the the Drama Department organizes and directs a musical for the school and the community. All 3rd to 5th grade students are eligible to audition. All interested students rehearse and perform variety of functions in the production of the musical.

Technology

PS195X offers K to 5th graders regular access to technology through the use of iPad and Chromebook Carts in the classroom. Imagine Learning and i-Ready are a few of the interactive online learning environments used in our school that is designed to assess students and provide individualized instruction based on each one's unique needs in both Math and Reading.

In addition the 3rd to 5th graders have a Technology specialty class once a week, in which students are developing their keyboarding skills, exposed to 3D model building, coding, game design, word processing, Google Apps to name a few.

PS195X's technology mission is to provide our students and teachers with the tools and technical knowledge to enhance the learning and teaching experience and prepare our students for 21st Century. Our goal is to develop technological skills to stimulate curiosity and develop critical thinking skills in all subject areas.
