This month we will be using all we have practiced in math this year to prepare for the Math State Tests. Students will be asked to read and answer math questions, drawing on all of the content we have done this year. This includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions.
We encourage students to carefully read the test questions, envisioning and modeling as they go. They should also be using the most efficient and accurate strategies to compute the numbers in each problem.
Ask your child to make up math word problems and solve them, or you can solve them and they can check your answer (no calculators!)
Pose real world problems and ask your child how they might go about solving them. Ex: If 14 students are going on a trip, and each taxi fits 4 people, how many taxis will they need?
