Went over students rights with new administration.  As far as we know, they will not be coming into a school to take students out.  

Speaker from NTA was there,  will see if I can have her present for our staff

Fall observations ended 1/24/25

Last day of spring observations is 6/6/25

Make sure you are getting the correct number of observations

Temperature guidelines  -rooms should not reach 88 degrees 

All schools should have a para rep (we don't) $250 stipend

Budget was a big topic - will be requesting a copy of the budget and forming a committee.  

Safety person - Diane Yodice also spoke about LODI - requested she come visit school

11/20/24 -  HMH concerns/issues are at SI level

Covid policy change - no longer giving time to leave for shot no time for side effects after shot.   10 days per school year still in place.  If you have covid symptoms must provide proof of taking a test before third day to count as covid days.

9/11/24 - First meeting of this school year  - Tabio DaCruz is not the Queens Bourough Representative.  For now he is also the D27 Representative.  Waiting on elections to see who is our new D27 representative.  Went over start of year procedures.  

5/15/24 - Chapter Leader and Delegate Elections - (Kristie Ippolito is the Election Chair for our building)

2 days to grieve reorganization issues - Do not change your preference sheet at the request of admin - Keep copies of all preference sheets as evidence

4 days to file APPR complaint - if admin gives low rating you can ask them to "model" a lesson for you 

It is recommended to resolve issues at school level but if need be can/will be escalated

Propose possibilities for alternatives with issues in the building

I was unable to make the 4/3/24 meeting.

2/14/24 - Superintendent at meeting, spoke about  HMH and remote pivot.   PPO for Principals he is looking for how the Principal's vision/leadership "lives in the classroom practices" 

1/24/24 -  Demand Representation when an investigator wants to speak to you EVEN IF you are not the person being investagated.

LODI - NYC DOE employees DO NOT GET WORKERS COMP if you get hurt on the job it goes through your health insurance and you get reimbursed for copay   Must report within 24 hours fill out legal size form and OORS report  -

10/18/23  Again reinforcement on new contract and Special Education Consultation committee. 

9/20/23 - Went over the new contract so we can "hold the line" on items that were negotiated example - 3 in a row, dismissal time, OPW and PD time etc. 

 5/24/23 - Meeting before the rally - 2 days to grieve placement for next school year.   June 2 is last day to be observed.  

4/26/23 - The Superintendent answered question that were collected from schools in D27.  He wants to hear from teachers/staff in schools and build a trust between DOE and UFT.  Spoke about literacy programs and doesn't mind having "hard" conversations if it means seeing progress in the schools. 

3/8/23 - Reminder that in September will begin phasing in class reduction sizes.  There is an Early Childhood Conference on April 1, for elementary teachers (see post on the upcoming event tab).  Lobby Day is Monday, this is where the COPE money is used to go to Albany to fight for legislation etc. - I will be going and will relay information back to you.  Discussed new curriculum that is going to be used district wide then city wide more info to follow.   More contract action is currently being planned - they are planning a "Grade In" on March 30 - I have a virtual meeting to see what that is about on March 14th.  Blue Fair Contract Now shirt orders were placed last night -  as a district we ordered over 700 shirts and should have them before the end of the month!

2/16/23 - I was part of the consultation meeting  with the Superintendent.  Following items were discussed - Sub central and issues with getting subs in school - they are looking into possibly getting CTLE hours for LETRS training - Preference sheet format should not include a section asking if you are coming back the following year. I was invited to join in "Lobby Day" on March 13, will relay information to you on that.

2/1/23 - Spoke about ordering shirts for District 27 members for contract action.
