4/16/24 - Meeting was held in 301 during lunch periods - Preference sheets were mailed out on Friday - please be specific in responding. Open market 4/11 to 8/6 - This year is elections for Chapter Leader, Delegate and Para Rep - if anyone is interested in running, please let me know. I will need a volunteer to be the election chair. Secure your items for spring break - we are getting our first retention check in May $400.00 - In the principal weekly there was a reminder that admin CAN NOT dictate what is on your boards or use them for evaluation purposes - Observations can only be based on what admin HEARS and SEES - not their opinion or what they want to see - looking to do a complete school calendar for next year with school events so that parents/students/staff are notified in September of major events at school - Discussed going from 7 to 8 period day - Possible SBO is to do PD and OPW all in one day. Went over insubordination - if you are ask to do something that is in violation of the contract, let me now but you should not be insubordinate - Write ups should be text to me so I can keep track of how many were reported
3/5/24 - Meeting was held in 301 during lunch periods - upated staff on information I got during Chapter Leader meeting this past weekend. We are forming a CAT team to ensure that the contract is being implemented. I have asked for the union to help in making next year schedule. Two day period to grieve schedules. SBO's can be done through out the year. Preference sheet should be out before May 1. I am asking for Amy Arundel to come in to speak to us. Any letters you get regarding discontinuance etc, please let me know. Elections for Chapter Leader, Delegate and Para Rep are in the spring let me know if you are interested. Prep and lunch should be free of any scheduled things unless you scheduled it. 6/7 last day to be observed. Keep copy of preference sheet.

Additionally, I have been in touch with a programmer who will hopefully shed some light on the schedule. The main concern is to correct the 4/5 in a row that some teachers currently have. Please keep in mind that you should have 1 prep for every day you work. If you are asked to cover and that is the day of your prep because your team meeting was on another day, please remind admin of that or keep track so that you can submit to be paid. The focus is elementary school since MS has 4th period lunch, there is no issues with 4 in a row.

PD committee
Under the new DOE-UFT contract, each school (and program functioning as a school) will now have one committee to serve as an instructional leadership team that plans all school-based professional learning in consultation with the principal. Your school had until Nov. 1 to form this Staff Development Committee. The committee will not only discuss the PD during the weekly PD block, but all school-specific professional development at the school. The new contract says that school-based professional development cannot be one size fits all; instead, all UFT members must receive professional learning that is directly related to the work they do. Half of the committee members are chosen by the chapter leader and the other half by the principal. If you would be interested in serving on your school’s Staff Development Committee or if you have any questions or concerns, please speak to your chapter leader.

9/13/23 - Meeting was held in 301 during lunch periods
Following was discussed - SBO for the Back to School BBQ on September 21. Still working on getting the schedule worked out to eliminate 4/5 in a row. The day will be reverting back to 6hr20min - when is to be determined. I am working with Travis and Ed to get an accurate account of the air conditioning unit issues so that I can complete the UFT survey.

Teacher center opening pending budget
There will be an interim Principal until 1/1 at that point a posting will go up and a committee will start interviewing. I will be part of that committee. The superintendent has the final say in who gets hired.

I attended Lobby Day which is when you speak directly to the representatives in the area to lobby for what is needed in our schools.
