2/13/25 -
Be mindful of Chancelor's Regulations for student removal, capital and corporal punishments
Roof is a 3 year project
No glass bottles and/or cans for students
Section sheets in the middle school should show late students and issues
1/16/25 CALL "0" TO REACH OFFICE FOR CRISIS/ISSUES
If student has items they shouldn't have in school (weed, knives, bb gun etc) must be reported and given to school safety immediately
Make sure doors locked when not in room - gang activity includes stealing items from teachers/classrooms
Save room is 301A however other rooms might be used if needed
Escort students up from lunch if not staying in cafeteria
Limit passes to bathroom to students who are known to wander or go often
Must keep class together walking up from lunch - Failure to supervise students
Students going on inappropriate websites monitor use and report any misuse. Students should not be using their own devices in school.

Gang prevention be alert say something if you suspect something
Students that say "shooting threat" must be reported
MS teachers should walk their classes up in lines and look back often to make sure kids are following and not leaving line.
Report any incidents to admin - should also be reported to UFT
Make sure you lock up your personal items during the break

6/4/24 - Drills are up to date Planning for next year regarding dismissal exits, lunch, recess. Make sure personal items/equipment secured over the summer. Keep reminding students regarding expectations and behaviors
5/23/24 - Still on waiting list for the door lock/camera system but it is coming
Lock your doors - no students should be able to access your room if you are not there
Limit student bathroom - vaping incidents
0 tolerance - cyber activity that lead to school disturbances
Discipline Code B37 speaks to steps/protocols for threats
Cell phones issues with recording in class etc. be alert and report the students

4/9/24 - Following items were discussed, please secure all your personal items, there has been an increase in thefts at schools.
Human trafficking is happening all around NYC
They are looking to do more "preventative services" in schools to cut back on incident
Anecdotal and DOE write ups should be in pen only. *** please text me a copy of any write ups and follow up and get an OORS number.
3/15/24 - The safety protocols were discussed, please note that once NYPD and the Director of Safety is on the scene, the protocols may be adjusted in consideration of the safety of the staff and students.
Make sure your personal items are secured
When reporting incidents make sure you write the facts of the incident and nothing further. Teachers should not be doing the investigating.
Section sheets should be used by all classes to indicate attendance, bathroom use and any defiant behavior such as not removing hoods, jackets etc.
Students should not be taking book bags to bathrooms
2/15/24 The following items were discussed at safety meeting:
When a child is going home, please remind them to go to the main office to be signed out.
Do not hold or charge phone for student
Scissors must be out of sight and/or out of children's reach if they are not safety scissors.
ICT classes - both teachers should be escorting classes
We are on a rotation based scan scedule. Last time was here 2 vapes and one pepper spray found.
1/18/24 The following items were discussed at the safety meeting:
Students can only be searched by school safety
Gang Prevention and Intervtions be mindful of kids wearing rosary beads and report anything that you feel is gang related. Be aware, circulate take notice of any unusual behavior.
Once kids are upstairs do not send them down for breakfast.
Safety agents should be at their post by 7:00 am
12/13/23 - The following items were discussed at the safety meeting:
OORS forms can only be given out by Mr. Goggin and Mr. Durso.
Teacher reporting of an incident should include who, what, when, where and how.
Lunch traffic was addressed - let me know if things don't improve
2:10 is the time for after school pick up
Covid 19 test procedure will now include your name and date be written in sharpie on the test itself and sent to admin.

DEFINITIONS Verbal abuse is not corporal punishment, but is separately proscribed by this regulation. Prohibited verbal abuse includes: • language that tends to cause fear or physical or mental distress; • discriminatory language based on race, color, national origin, alienage/citizenship status, ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, or sexual orientation which tends to cause fear or physical or mental distress; • language that tends to threaten physical harm; or • language that tends to belittle or subject students to ridicule.
Take down your room number down from the windows, it is now considered a "target" if someone poses a threat to someone in the building, it gives a location of where someone might be.
Make sure itmes are secured and windows locked for break

11/16/23 - The following items were discussed at the safety meeting -
There may be a PD about how to correctly report an incident. 24 hour window to report.
The way in which the lock down was handled when the irate parent was here was handled the way it should have according the NYPD supervisor that was at the meeting.
The video monitor survey for entry to the school was done on 11/13, told it would be at least 5 weeks before it is installed.
Substitute teachers will be given a "pocket version" of the GRP protocol.
All students must hang their coats up. Middle school students should hang their coats in their homeroom closet. If they are late, the must stop at their homeroom class or if they show up to your class with their coats, send them to their homeroom quickly.
No book bags in the bathrooms.
All students must have passes in hallway
They will be monitoring the bathrooms to avoid students breaking things etc.
***Staff members should NOT be attempting t block doors or physically prevent a student from running, exiting or leaving *****
10/19/23 - The following items were discussed at the safety meeting -
Main office must be called for an incident
Phones should be in Yonder pouches 5-8 grades
Nurse visits - BRT team will continue to escort PK-2 to the nurse 3-8 can be sent down with proper pass
Teachers walking classes in the hallway, make sure you are aware of who is on line - to prevent walk offs - in the meeting if a child walks off ask any adult to call the main office.
9/15/23 - We had our first safety meeting of the school year, the following items were discusssed
Tik Tok is banned citywide
Please do not stand in front of auditorium at dismissal
5/30/23 - Smoke shops are illegal, there is no smoking on school grounds. If there is an incident or you suspect and issue, do not investigate yourself, call the main office and/or let a supervisor know immidiately. With use of technology in the classroom, it is suggested that you circulate the room to make sure students are on task. Students can go to the library during lunch. Make sure all devices are not left out and unattended.
4/27/23 - Phones can't be held for students. If you see a phone call the main office and let them know. Police will be present at school before and after. Students in hallway must have a pass. Incidents that happen outside of school still get reported by the school.

Missing student protocol - a hold will be in place if a student is missing and not found within a minute. Missing students or students who walk out of room should be reported immediately.
There is not smoking at all, including vaping, by either staff or students within a school zone. Please note that a school zone is 100 yards from the school. It is illegal and can result in termination.
School safety along with a supervisor can search a student if there is probable cause.
Gel Blasters and Bead Blasters are banned from school.
2/28/23 -
Just a reminder that we were placed on a random rotation for scanning, Mr. Durso had recently followed up and they came on 2/27/23.
Reporting of incidents/accidents must be done within 24 hours of occurring.
A new door locking system coming soon for all schools in the DOE, more information to follow.
Walking kids down for dismissal - I voiced a concerned of the time it is taking - I will follow up
There will be NYPD presence at school arrival and dismissal.
Phones must be in Yonder pouches - if a student lost their pouch, please reach out to Mr. Goggin or Mr. Durso. Teachers are not to hold on to any phones belonging to students.
Parents are now able to meet with teachers in person during parent engagement.
Ms. Shapiro has weekly meetings with the local NYPD precinct.
Just a reminder that doors should be locked in case of a drill.
All teachers should be receiving emails from Admin regarding student removals, suspensions and updated on students in crisis. I suggested a group email be set up to assure all the teachers/clusters especially in middle school get the email so if you are not receiving information, please let me know.
1/12/23 -
Windows on classroom doors should not be covered
If there is a Code Blue Drill be mindful that Mrs. Schaeffner and Mr. Stavola need to respond so if you are on a prep or if you have a para in your room they may need coverage for the drill.
There are several programs involving the middle school such as Thrive and Pivot more information to follow.
There will be a box of feminine products by Ms. Cruz' s desk so that students don't have to go to the nurse from the third floor.
Students must have passes when out of classroom
There is a city wide problem obtaining batteries for the thermostats as they are discontinued
