Goal- Students will demonstrate their technical drawing and 3D modeling skills by designing and developing a model. 

Role- Engineer

Audience- Community Advisory Board

Situation- Prosper's growth has reduced the natural habitat of native birds.  Students will create artificial habitats to provide birds with homes to promote various species populations in developing communities.

Product- Students will design and develop a birdhouse by sketching, utilizing CAD, and developing a physical model. 

Content- Was the content appropriate to the task, accurate, and supported? 

• The physical model includes:

  • Roof

  • Walls

  • Entrance

  • Perch

  • Special Feature relative to the bird - to meet a need of individual to the bird

  • A way to secure the house

  • Unique in design

Evaluation of Learning from the Performance Task 

Daily: Students will create the parts and assemble them in a CAD program. 

Daily: Students will build a physical model of their CAD design.

Quality- Was the performance or product of high quality?

• The physical model of the birdhouse meets the physical needs of the species.

• The physical model is an original and unique design. 

• The physical model is solidly built and well constructed.

Major: Students will present the final product to the community advisory board using the EDP.
