Performance Guidelines

Those who participate in the 2021 auditions and are selected as a Performer for the MACSA Music Fest Performances:

  • Must be available for any recital scheduled at the Tobin Center (October 23 or 24) OR the McNay Art Museum (November 14).


Those who originally signed up to audition in 2020 and have been guaranteed Performer spots for the MACSA Music Fest Performances:

  • Must be available for any recital scheduled at the Tobin Center (October 23 or 24).


Performance Time Limits:

  • Each recital will be a combination of beginner, intermediate, and advanced level performers.

  • If your selected piece is over the time limit for your level, cuts must be made to fit into your alloted time slot. Ask your teacher for help!

    • Beginner: 2 min

    • Intermediate: 4 min

    • Advanced: 5 min

    • Ensemble: 5 min


At the end of Performances:

  • All flowers and other gifts for performers should be reserved for after the completion of the entire recital.

  • Music Fest T-shirts will be given to performers.

  • Post your videos and pics from the event to: #MACSAatTOBIN


Performance Attire

Boys/Men

  • Suit and tie

  • Dress pants (dress khakis are acceptable) and sport coat (optional)

  • Dress shirt with tie

  • No sneakers, flip-flops, sandals, jeans, t-shirts or polo shirts.

  • Cologne should not be worn.


Girls/Women

  • Dress (knee-length or below)

  • Skirt (knee-length or below) and blouse

  • Dress slacks and blouse

  • Suit

  • Dress shoes - High heels are often not the best choice for singers, any performers who are standing while playing, and pianists who must use the pedals. Consider a low, soft heel! No flip-flops, however sandals are fine but should be dressy.

  • Perfume or cologne should not be worn.
