Video Audition Details

VIDEO SUBMISSION

  • Students will record TWO pieces, each recorded separately.

  • Attire:

    • Ladies: dress, nice top/skirt, nice top/dress pants

    • Gentlemen: polo shirt, dress shirt, dress or khaki pants

    • No sweatpants, bare feet, pajamas, slippers, etc.

  • All video recordings must be unedited. Please, no costumes, props, filters or special effects.

  • If possible, use a tripod for a steady recording.

  • Please conduct a test prior to recording to ensure that the sound quality, including any backup tracks, is as good as possible.

  • Start the video by having the student state his/her full name and the name of the piece he/she will perform.

  • Camera positions:

    • Piano - profile view of the performer, with full keyboard if possible.

    • Voice - torso view of performer.

    • Strings/Guitar - full view of the instrument.

  • When saving your video recordings, use this format: performer’s last name, underscore, performer’s first name, underscore, title of piece. (Your software program will automatically provide the file type.) For example: Pavliska_Ellen_BachGMinuet.MOV

  • Click on the DropBox file request link on the online application and follow the steps to upload the file.


MUSIC SCORE PDF SUBMISSION

  • Music scores of the pieces performed must be provided.

  • Please scan all pages of each piece into one file in PDF format.

  • When saving your files, use this format: performer’s last name, underscore, performer’s first name, underscore, title of piece. For example, Pavliska_Ellen_BachGMinuet.PDF

  • Click on the DropBox file request link on the entry form and follow the steps to upload the files.



Audition Eligibility

  • Auditions are open to ALL current MACSA students - adult students included!

  • A student is eligible to participate as long as they become a current MACSA student as of the Audition Deadline of 9/3/21.

  • Any student selected to perform at the MACSA Music Fest event at the Tobin Center must remain a MACSA student in good standing through October 24, 2021.

  • Any student selected to perform at the MACSA Music Fest event at the McNay Art Museum must remain a MACSA student in good standing through November 14, 2021.
