KHS VPA Boosters Scholarship Policy
January 31, 2025 (updated)
Purpose
The Kennebunk High School Visual and Performing Arts Boosters would like to promote, support, and reward visual and performing arts excellence, commitment, academic performance, and citizenship. In this effort, the KHS VPA Boosters will award up to(3) $1000 scholarships each year to seniors in the Kennebunk High School graduating class, if there are sufficient funds available and if there are sufficiently qualified candidates.
Description (to be printed in scholarship handbook):
Kennebunk High School Visual and Performing Arts Boosters Scholarship (Up to 3 at $1000)
The Kennebunk High School Visual and Performing Arts Boosters Scholarship is for students who have participated in visual and performing arts classes and/or activities at Kennebunk High School and beyond, who have shown a history of excellence in the visual and/or performing arts, who have demonstrated good citizenship while at Kennebunk High School, who have demonstrated high academic achievement, and who have definite plans to attend a post-secondary school. Applicants should also submit a specific KHS VPA Booster application available at the guidance office or on the KHS VPA Booster Website. Award recipients will be notified and honored at the KHS Class Night.
Process
The process will be as follows:
At the Winter Meeting of the VPA Boosters, a scholarship committee will be selected and a vote will be held to see if there are sufficient funds to grant the (3) $1000 Scholarships. The scholarship committee will consist of 5 members of the VPA Boosters, at least 3 of whom are executive board members. As stated in the constitution, the KHS VPA Booster president will be an ex-officio member of the committee unless there is a conflict. No person may serve on the scholarship committee if his or her child is applying for the scholarship that year. The committee members will be responsible for attending a meeting to review the applications for scholarships submitted by members of the graduating class.
The KHS VPA Booster president will communicate with the KHS Guidance office after the Winter Meeting to inform Guidance about the number of scholarships that will be offered and to ensure that all applications materials and information are up to date.
Applications will be available at the KHS Guidance Office and on the KHS VPA Booster Website and completed applications will be accepted until the deadline for submission of that year’s KHS Local Scholarship Common Application.
