Group Learning Opportunities (GLO) is an association of Christian families with upper-level homeschool students in London, Ontario. We are not a school, institution, or formal organization of any kind. We are a not-for-profit association of Christian parents who are homeschooling our teens through high school. Our purpose is to facilitate tutor-led courses that help our children grow academically, socially, and personally in ways they can't at home. Courses are led by professional qualified experts and/or experienced home educators who are passionate about the courses they teach. Some are academic in nature and others are more experience-focused.
in-depth class discussions guided by knowledgeable tutors
public speaking and multi media presentations
teamwork and group projects
hands-on learning with labs and activities
new personal connections with other homeschoolers in the London area
lots of other learning opportunities unavailable in the home setting.
GLO London does not award OSSD credit for classes. Instead, students are provided with a grade report and course description that can be included in the student's homeschool portfolio. Money from registration pays for tutors, facility rental, admin, event supplies, and tech costs. Our program is intended for students in high school, although mature and advanced younger students sometimes take part. As with other homeschool courses, parents have a responsibility to ensure their student prepares and participates fully in class assignments and completes homework--typically several hours a week depending on course.
Homeschool courses with parents still the ultimate educators

Many of us love homeschooling and WANT to keep going through high school but it’s HARD. Classes require more expert knowledge and students need more opportunities to grow and connect with others. If we, as a Christian homeschool community, pool our resources we can meet these challenges with joy and success. GLO is us working together to coordinate tutor-led courses that meet weekly for in-depth instruction and opportunities for learning unavailable in the home setting (discussions, presentations, group projects, labs, etc.).
The vision for GLO was born at a coffee date in the summer of 2018 just after the HIGH Day picnic. When Tarah Stock and Liz Sheil realized they shared this common dream for GLO they decided it was time to give it a shot. Our leadership team has morphed and changed over time as new volunteers have come on board, but we have been prayerfully asking God to lead us ever since. And He has!
Our commuity creates our class list. We rely on parent and student feedback, FB poll responses & spring planning meeting particpation to create courses. Current and past areas of interest include:
Theatre Arts Initiative (2023-2024)
Biology (FA/2018)
French (FA/2018)
Logic (SP/2019)
Canadian History
Geography
English (Level A & Level B)
Art
Rhetoric/Debate
Chemistry

Tutors come to GLO from parents who want to see classes run. Do you have a friend, relative, or colleague who would make an awesome tutor? Maybe you’re able to teach? We need tutors who can help us tailor a course to curriculum and who:
Have a strong background/experience/passion for subject area
Are committed to fostering encouraging, positive, and joy-filled learning environment
Will provide accountability and feedback to students/parents but uphold parental authority over coursework choices.
So far, our tutors have been past teachers, professional experts, veteran homeschool moms, and university students. Each one of them has said how rewarding it was to be part of GLO and make a difference in the lives of our students.
And of course, all of our tutors receive fair compensation for their time.
