Serving Others

What is it?

Carrying out specific faithful acts of service and witness together; suffering with and for one another and all whom Jesus showed us to be our neighbors.

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Mark 10:45

“Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

Luke 10:36-37

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship."

Romans 12:1

Starting Questions

  1. Do students have the chance to help each other learn and take some responsibility for the learning of others in my classroom? Could I have students help other students during Office Hours?

  2. Can students put some of the content of my classroom into action by serving others in the community or in this school? What service-learning project or class component can my department become involved in?

  3. Could I partner with another class to create a meaningful service-learning exchange right here at GRCS?
