Honoring and showing respect to others and ourselves. The practice of honoring the body is born of the confidence that our bodies are made in the image of God's own goodness.
As the place where the divine presence dwells, our bodies are worthy of care and blessing and ought never to be degraded or exploited. It is through our bodies that we participate in God's activity in the world..."

How can students learn with their bodies in my class?
Is there a way that students can love themselves - in the flesh! - more fully through my class?
Is there a way that students can honor others physical body more fully through my class?
How do I use my body when I teach? Do I touch, point, sit, stand, etc.?
I once taught in a school where all the students had to stand when an adult entered the room. That seems a bit excessive, but what ways can we show honor to one another. In some cultures, this is an honorary bow. What if you shook hands of every student as they enter class. What if every student is greeted by name before class begins?
If honoring is a type of respecting, how can I show respect to my students? How can they express respect to one another? What might this mean for discipline?
The following is a list of teacher-generated ideas of ways that this practice could be implemented in the classroom or school culture.
