Christian Practices

Nicholas Wolterstorff once wrote: “Education is ultimately always shaped by a vision of the nature and possibility of human flourishing." This is what we, as educators, are aiming for: not just good grades or a good job, but true flourishing. But what does this flourishing look like and how do we get there? The Christian tradition has long identified certain practices that foster this human flourishing through sustained and communal engagement. Click on the various Christian practices below to explore how you and your students might engage in these practices in your own classroom.

“A Christian education can never be merely a mastery of a field of knowledge or technical skills; learning is embedded in a wider vision of who I am called to be and what God is calling the world to be. How does my learning fit in this Story? And what practices will cultivate this ultimate orientation in me?”
